Was research into these changes done across academies and among high level players?

There were more than 400 games involved in the research for these changes, involving groups from Year 1 to Year 9 across Key Stages 1–4, and using grassroots players with a range of ability levels. The research and findings are applicable to the audience that these changes will affect. As well as these games, clubs and leagues have been involved in testing and refining the formats, as have the Early Adopter Leagues that have been implementing the changes this season.
