Why is it permitted for players to dribble directly from a kick-in and shoot without needing the ball to touch a teammate first?
We wanted to give players in possession a decision to make so they can pass it in or dribble it in. Allowing this speeds up the game, aids decision-making and means the team out of possession also has to switch on quickly to counter what the team on the ball are going to do. This will be the same for all restarts in 3v3, where after goal-line restarts and free kicks, players can either dribble in or kick in. The option on sideline restarts will continue throughout 5v5 and 7v7.
